ABOUT US

Engaging student citizens across New York. Work with us as we bring media literacy, civic responsibility, and informed citizenship into the lives of students.

Our Story

Today, many students are out of touch with their roles in our democracy, but it isn't their fault. Many schools, especially the New York schools, fail to include citizenship education, media literacy, and responsible civic and political dialogue in their curriculums. How can this be when 21 other states already have mandated such courses in their schools?

It is undoubtedly a national priority to have civics lessons taught in school in order to protect and strengthen America’s constitutional society. This includes building a commitment to ensure that all students are prepared to assume their responsibilities to participate in civic life as well as address the problems facing students, their families, and communities in our increasingly complicated, polarized, and digital world.

Our goal is to work with leaders across the state, from local school boards and mayors, to state-wide assemblypeople, and eventually national and international legislators and delegations to make sure that youth across the globe are equipped to engage in their world.
